Tomorow, July 7th, the collective nominated for PIPA, OPAVIVARÁ! presents an action inspired in the traditional celebration of Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.

“DESVENDE-SE – Sistemas de Movimento e Harmonia”  (Unveil yourself – Movement and Harmony Systems)

In the current context of urban and social transformations of the port region of the city of Rio de Janeiro, OPAVIVARÁ!proposes an ambulatory drift around the region of Casa França-Brasil, an institution linked to the Secretariat of State of Culture of Rio de Janeiro. The public is invited to join in this action accompanied by music, banners and props inspired by the Carnival parades and marches.
Inserting themselves creatively within the city, the group makes an occupation in motion coloring situations and discovering spaces. This peculiarity of Rio, the dismantling of hills and construction of embankments, constitutes layers of physical sediment and social erosion, overlapped landscapes, buried pasts, entire social dynamics silenced in the roar of bulldozers. Proposing an itinerant collective action, OPAVIVARÁ! invites everyone to walk on these areas in full metamorphosis, where past and future tense, to reflect and reinvent themselves. A journey that, by providing a direct contact between body and city, leads to a policy of affection and a look at this city in a more human and less olympic scale.

The actions will happen on Saturdays (June 23rd and 30th, and July 7th) gathering at 01PM in front of Casa França Brasil, leaving at 02PM and returning at 04PM.
