Blau Projects art gallery is holding until February 7th the group show“…pegaríamos as coisas onde elas crescem, pelo meio…” [“…we would get things in the places where they grow, in the middle…”], with Fabio Morais and Thiago Honório as participating artists. The project was selected by a contest proposed by the gallery and is signed by Galciani Neves.
The group show brings the concept of the middle as a way of avoiding normative definitions and demands of beginnings and closures usually required in art environment. The result is an amount of paralyzed works in transition moments, as they needed to be continued in the interpretation of the observers. The title/curatorial proposal is a quote by the post-structuralist french philosopher Gilles Deleuze, who thought that the normative definitions and demands of beginnings and closures limit art. Starting from this idea, the artists were proposed to create and gather works without an ending, suggesting a continuity beyond them.
The “middle” in this project is a moment of transition, inviting the public to find out the polysemic courses proposed by each artist. The “middle” is always a beginning, a continuation, a flirtation with the viewer heading to different meanings constructions. The artists Ana Dias Batista, Fabio Morais, Jimson Vilela, Jorge Menna Barreto, Laura Gorski and Thiago Honório will expose installations and artworks.
C.LAB is an art announcement proposed by Blau Projects art gallery, giving selected applicants the opportunity of executing a curatorial group or solo project. The selection is made by an independent committee, composed by renowned professionals in visual arts, considering the relevance of the project in the contemporary art scenario.
