R.U. former and current residents discuss the impulse to draw

(New York, USA)

Portuguese artists Gabriela Albergaria and Diogo Pimentão – the latter, a current Residency Unlimited resident – will discuss the impulse to draw and its day-by-day practice in a panel that takes place tomorrow, February 17th, at Sapar Contemporary.

Both artists work extensively with drawing, although in very different grounds. While Albergaria, who was a resident at R.U. in 2015, focuses on nature, representing gardens and plant species as elaborated, cultural constructs, Pimentão plays on the boundaries of performance, sculpture and drawing, involving experiments of inscription, layering and surface on his drawings.

The talk starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be moderated by Amber Moyles, Curatorial Assistant at The Drawing Center in New York.
