Bárbara Wagner, nominated for PIPA Prize 2010, and German artist Benjamin de Burca were selected to the Skulptur Projekte Münster 2017. The show takes place every once in a decade and brings together artists from all over the world to exhibit their works in Münster’s public spaces.
Their collaborations often consist on a socio-economical investigation of certains locations having as start points pop-cultural phenomena or urban development projects. These research projects – usually done in collaboration with said location’s residents – then unfolds into photographic and filmic works, combining both documentary and fictional elements. For their Münster project, titled “Bye Bye Germany! A Melody of Life”, the duo was interested in the German “hit song”, a genre of German pop music, and it’s examination of historical and structural principles.
