“Art Lesson” discusses the educational role of museums today

(Madrid, Spain)

What is the educational role of museums in society today? The question guides “Art Lesson”, exhibition organized by Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Featuring the work of contemporary artists such as Antoni Muntadas and Erwin Wurm, not to mention PIPA Prize 2010 Finalist Cinthia Marcelle, the show aims to examine and transform the spectator’s experience and place within the museum, turning the visitor into an active agent.

Developed by the museum’s Education Department, the program consists on various activities and takes place in different spaces in the museum. It will also award two artists with a residence grant, who will work alongside the department during both the preparatory space and the exhibition itself, establishing links between cutting-edge artistic creation, the museum, and its visitors.
