“Simultaneous Eidos” investigates the notion of image in the contemporary world

(Guangdong, China)

With the development of digitization and the continuous expansion of technical visual media, the notion of “image” has expanded. Simultaneous Eidos – Guangzhou Image Triennial 2017″, a major exhibition held at the Guangdong Museum of Art, explores the multiple possibilities of the image, emphasizing its power to interpret and depict realities and even create new ones.

Divided into themed and special exhibitions, the triennial showcases the works of 58 artists from all over the world, amongst them Gisela Motta & Leandro Lima. As a part of the new art media underlined by the exhibition, these works investigate “image” in its wider sense, includes in its concept audio, movement, three-dimensional animation and other elements. The exhibition embodies this concept by including various cross-media art practices. In other words, the exhibition encourages us to face the various photography-video practice today, considering a more open and inclusive grasp of the traditional concept of photography, and the relationship between photography and other visual arts as a new space for discussion.
