Stolen from a poem by Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño, “In the Reading Room of Hell”, the title of A Plus A’s latest exhibition gives away its main subject: the parallels between visual arts and experimental writing. The group show was curated by the British itinerant curatorial project NOVEL and features 12 international artists. Amongst them is Luiz Roque, nominated for PIPA Prize for the fourth time this year.
The exhibition showcases artworks and films centred on subjects so vast (and, at the same time, so intrinsically connected) as politics, poetry, theory and storytelling. Together, they explore the limits of verbal, visual and audiovisual language and propose the existence of new forms of critical fiction. See some of the works exhibited in the show:
