Currently on view at Galeria Luisa Strina, São Paulo, Brazil, with the solo show “Ontologia Lenta” [Slow Onthology], Marcellvs L. will be one of this season’s highlights at Haus Mödrath. He was chosen to screen his movie “2222” at the institution from July 14th through August 19th as part of the programme “6×6”, which selects six artists to screen each a film for six weeks (hence the programme’s title) in the Project Space annexe.
Produced in 2010, “2222” is set in Mývatn, in Iceland (country in which the artist is partially based) and explores the spectators’ disorientation when confronted with deserted forms of civilization. The region is located in a region where volcanoes are active, and lava is constantly rising to the surface. The camera focuses on an almost-immobile horse standing in the middle of a snowy landscape. As the film progresses, the spectators start to mingle the image of the animal with that of the background.
