Laura Belém, 2018 PIPA Prize nominee, participates from October 1st to December 16th in the residency programme from Delfina Foundation, in London, UK. The artist works with a range of different media, such as installation, sculpture, photography, sound, and collage. Sometimes she also develops site-specifics in which Laura considers cultural and historical elements from the context in which the piece is thought to occupy.
Laura intends to use the residency as experimentation and incubation of new ideas, but the full concept of the artwork is not yet defined since she will expand her piece alongside the place. However, the artist claims that she aims to “use the city as a studio space and explore ideas of public and private spaces”. Until October 26th, Laura Belém also exhibits “Por que olhamos a natureza num mundo conturbado”, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
