About the artist

Alberto Bitar started in photography in 1991, after participating in the photography workshop of the Associação Fotoativa.

In 1996 was selected by the Antárctica art’s project with Folha and in 2009 by the project Rumos – Artes Visuais, Instituto Itaú Cultural.

In 2002 he got the Special Prize of the Salão Arte Pará with the video Doris, video made together with Paulo Almeida and Leo Bitar, and in the following year he he produces, with Paulo Almeida, the video Enquanto Chove that gets the Prize of Best Video at the 2nd Festival de Belém do Cinema Brasileiro and also in the IV Festival Cineamazônia, in Porto Velho/RO.

He held the solo exhibitions Solitude (1994), Hecate (1997), Passageiro (2005), which integrated the official program of the International Month of Photography in São Paulo, and Efêmera Paisagem (2009).

He has been participating in group exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, like the Salão da Bahia, Prêmio Porto Seguro de Fotografia, Prêmio Fundação Conrado Wessel, Salão Internacional de Fotografia Abelardo Rodrigues Antes – Havana/Cuba, and Desidentidad, at Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno, in Spain.

He has works in collections like Coleção Pirelli/MASP (2010), Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, MAM da Bahia, Fundação Biblioteca Nacional, coleção FNAC, among others.
