About the artist

Lives in Sao Paulo since 1973.

Patricia is an artist, graduated from the School of Communications and Arts – University of São Paulo, currently undertaking a PhD in Visual Poetics in the same institution under the guidance of Carlos Fajardo. She also has a background in architecture and music (cello). Her work deals with ideas about space and its relationship with the individual, through various means as installation, performance, photography and sound.

Among her major solo exhibitions are Casapina in Funarte São Paulo (2010), John’s House, at Galeria Leme, Sao Paulo (2009); John’s House – a work in progress, Beaconsfield art gallery,
London / England (2008); Mecca, in Paço das Artes, for the Season Project – São Paulo (2006), and Window 23 at Centro Cultural São Paulo, by the Exhibition Program, São Paulo (2004).

Among the awards and artist residences obtained, there is the Funarte Award- Occupation of Spaces 2010 (FUNARTE – Sao Paulo), the Artist Links residence, from the British Council / Arts Council England (2008), and acquisition premiums in 11º Salão de Artes de Itajaí (Cultural Foundation of Itajaí / SC – 2008) and the 7º Salão do Mar (Casa Porto de Artes Plásticas, Vitória / ES – 2006. In 2007-2009 held two periods of artistic residence independently in Santiago, Chile.

Recent group exhibitions are shows like PARALELA 2010, at Liceu de Artes e Ofícios, São Paulo (2010), the 63rd Salão Paranaense, at MAC Curitiba, Paraná (2009); and Narratives, at Casa da Cultura of Ribeirao Preto/SP (2007).

Some of her works can be found in the collection of institutions like the Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo (MAC USPn – FACADE work acquired by the Program for Art Donations of SP-ARTE 2011), the Casa Porto de Artes Plásticas in Porto Vitória / ES (work Gropius Sea) and the Fundação Cultural de Itajaí/SC (Court Yard work). Donation by the artist: videos El tango del Pasillo and John’s House for MAC (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Curitiba and Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda (CCPLM), Santiago, Chile.
