“Lona”, solo show by Gustavo Speridião, opens for the public today

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) The exhibition title is extracted from the support used by the artist, cotton canvas, and the paintings are exposed without frames, attached directly to the wall, “in a simple assembly”, tells the artist. In the ground floor of the gallery, fourteen paintings with dimensions of 2m x 7m each one, and in the terrace, four canvasses, shaped with 5,9m x 2m to 1,8m x 1m. The series are a development of the work by Gustavo Speridião, who has politics and painting as a main focus: “exploring the pictorial plan and politic questions, using paint, coal and collages (words, abstractions and posters)”.






Chiara Banfi presents special concert as part of her new solo show, “Fiume Achates”

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Tomorrow, Chiara Banfi performs a live concert with musicians Domenico Lancellotti and Bruno di Lullo during her new solo show, “Fiume Achates”. Together, they are the band “Dissonâmbulos”, which the main goal is to explore the diverse sonorities present in the sound sculptures created by the artist, permeating the presentation with songs that appear and disappear in the sound waves.

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Camila Soato presents a new solo show at Artur Fidalgo galeria, with 50 brand new paintings in different sizes, in which extravagant scenes expose the social and political nonsense that we live in. With a malicious and unusual narrative, Soato penetrates into the complexity of what seems banal. The artist uses jokes to unravel moral contradictions through daily life situations. Her self-portrait rises in bizarre situations.






Tomorrow | “Tombo”, installation by Rodrigo Braga – guided visitation with the artist

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Tomorrow, a guided visitation at “Tombo”, solo show by Rodrigo Braga, will be held by the artist. He created the installation specifically for the central interspace of Casa-França Brasil. The installation creates an immediate relation between the Royal Palm logs and the 24 internal columns on the gallery space, which is one of the neoclassic marks in Brazil, constructed in 1820 by French architect Grandjean de Montigny.






Group show “Encruzilhada” brings together 115 works by 74 artists

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Afonso Tostes, Alexandre Mazza, Ana Mazzei, André Komatsu, Antonio Dias, Armando Queiroz, Berna Reale, Beto Shwafaty, Cao Guimarães and Rivane Neuenschwander, Carla Zaccagnini, Carlos Vergara, Chico Fernandes, Cinthia Marcelle + Tiago Mata Machado, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, Ivan Grilo, Joana Traub Csekö, Laura Lima, Lenora de Barros, Luiz Braga, Marcos Chaves, Maria Laet, Mauro Restiffe, Milton Marques, Nazareno Rodrigues, OPAVIVARÁ!, Paulo Nazareth, Rafael RG, Raquel Versieux, Regina Parra, Renata Lucas, Rodrigo Braga, Vivian Caccuri and Waltércio Caldas are some of the names of the 74 artists with works featured in group exhibition “Encruzilhada” [“Crossroad”], part of the Visitor Curator program of School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage.






Open talk with Rodrigo Braga and curator Thais Rivitti takes place at installation “Tombo”

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Rodrigo Braga created the installation specifically for the central interspace of Casa-França Brasil. There, 15 logs of approximately five meters will be disposed on the floor, segmented from five centenary royal palms. “Tombo” creates an immediate relation with the 24 internal columns on the gallery space, which is one of the neoclassic marks in Brazil, constructed in 1820 by French architect Grandjean de Montigny. Next week, an open talk with the artist and the curator Thais Rivitti will be hosted.






Last days | Occupation ARTE SONORA, project by Franz Manata and Saulo Laudares

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) ARTE SONORA is an artistic practice by the duo Franz Manata e Saulo Laudares. The project started in 2009 at Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage and assumed numerous formats: workshops, happenings, podcasts, exhibitions, publications, radio shows, web actions and residency programs. Wednesdays and Fridays will be dedicated to The Place, a practice developed by the duo since 1998, which consists in a collective space of sound experiences, where artists, researchers, DJs, musicians and the public share their interests and experiences in sound.
