“Pacific Standard Times: LA/LA” features over 60 exhibitions across Southern California

Presenting over sixty thematically linked exhibitions, “Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA” starts this month across various venues in Southern California. The project addresses issues about the relations between Latin American art and Latino heritage and culture in the US, and has a special place for Brazil in its program: at least four exhibitions are solely devoted to the country’s art and culture.

(Porto Alegre, Brazil) Camila Sposati, Ding Musa, Dirnei Prates, Mayana Redin, Reginaldo Pereira, Rommulo Conceição, Tony Camargo and Yuri Firmeza are some of the artists participating in “Manifesto: Poder, desejo, intervenção”, an exhibition that avoids the recently established models that conceive artistic creation as something exclusively militant, without a particular message or density.

(Porto Alegre, Brazil) Camila Sposati, Ding Musa, Dirnei Prates, Mayana Redin, Reginaldo Pereira, Rommulo Conceição, Tony Camargo and Yuri Firmeza participate in “Manifesto: Poder, desejo, intervenção” [“Manifest: Power, desire, intervention”], an exhibition designed to be an art production experimenting platform through a political spaciousness and temporality, “Manifesto” aims at avoiding the recently established models that conceive artistic creation as something exclusively militant, without a particular message or density.

(Pelotas, Brazil) The exhibition is motivated by the exceptional aspect of the new acquisitions, donated by artists and collectors to MAC-RS, and aims to promote the access to the collection, making it closer to the public. That way, the Museum carries on promoting the display of its collection in different institutional spaces and through different curatorial perspectives, increasingly promoting contemporary art.

(Caxias do Sul, Brazil) “Outro Museu – As Doações Recentes ao Acervo do MACRS” [“Another Museum – The Recent Donations to the Museum Collection”] is a way of bringing the museum collection closer to the public in different institutional spaces and through different curatorial perspectives across the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The idea is that the donations are memorable presents for the history of art.
