PIPA Online 2012 | Begins August 17th

Like in previous editions, PIPA Online is the category in which the public vote here at the website, on their favorites artists. Unlike the other categories – PIPA and PIPA Popular Vote Exhibition – in which only the four finalists can run for, on PIPA Online all the 2012 participating artists are invited to take part (although the participation is not mandatory).

All artists participating in PIPA go through a selection. They were nominated by experts in Brazilian contemporary art.
PIPA Online was created in the interest of highlighting and promoting these artists to the general public .
This tool serves as an incentive to disseminate their work. Ana Paula Oliveira, winner of PIPA Online 2010, talks about it in the video announcing the winner of PIPA Online 2011 (Iuri Sarmento).

The artists who will be running for PIPA Online will have a “vote box” in their pages.

To make it easier there will also be a page with the complete list of artists who are participating in this edition of PIPA Online.

This year PIPA Online presents two news: it will be decided in two rounds and will award the two artists who receive more “like” in their pages.

Move on to the second round only the artists who obtain more than 300 votes in the first round. The count is reset to the beginning of the second round.

The voting period will proceed by the following schedule:

August 17th – Beginning of voting in the 1st round of PIPA Online
September 2nd – End of voting in the 1st round of PIPA Online
September 9th – Beginning of voting in the 2nd round of PIPA Online
September 23rd – End of voting in the 2nd round of PIPA Online

The artist most voted in the second round of PIPA Online will be named the winner of PIPA Online 2012 and will receive R$10,000 (ten thousand Reais).

The second most voted artist in the second round will receive R$5,000 (five thousand Reais).

In case of only one artist receiving more than 300 votes in the first round, he will be declared the winner and there will not be a second round.

If no artist receives more than 300 votes in the first round, there will not be a winner.

Like in 2011, each person can vote (“like”) in how many artists he/she wants to, but only once, and only in one of the sites (www.pipa.org.br or www.pipaprize.com). In case of pressing the “like” button again that will cancel the vote.

We will soon publish a video tutorial showing the step-by-step of how to vote in an artist.
