Meet the Nominating Committee 2013

Check who are the members of the Committee, responsible for appointing artists to the fourth edition of the Prize, and see what has changed in the rules for nomination.
Changes include reducing the number of artists that each committee member may indicate and specific rules for members that are gallerists.

“Charles’ Cup of Tea”, PIPA’s new special video

In this video, we are extremely pleased to present an exciting and intelligent conversation with the Scottish Charles Watson. He is an independent researcher and teacher at Parque Lage’s School of Visual Arts, who investigates the creative process almost since he arrived in Brazil, 35 years ago.

The extent of his experiences has resulted in unique lectures, provocative and sometimes perplexing, covering topics as diverse as complex systems, physics, music, contemporary art and extreme sports, always with a hint of British humor.

In PIPA’s weekly cultural programming, you can check what is going on in Brazil and abroad with the participation of PIPA nominees, members of the Jury and the Committee, etc. This week, a weekend of events in London, and exhibition openings such as Chiara Banfi’s “No No Yes Please”, this Tuesday, in Rio de Janeiro.

Opening | Luiza Baldan at MAM-Rio

The artist’s work consists of a video installation on which a video camera is placed at the museum’s external area, behind the exhibition space, to capture images and project them, in real time, at the museum’s interior.

Gasworks – Residencies Open Studio Weekend

Opening | Ana Holck in Paris

Inspired by the demolition of the Perimetral Bridge, in Rio de Janeiro, the artist created a series of 25 watercolors that associate the shapes of the bridge’s pillars and beams into beautiful abstract compositions.

The PIPA nominee is one of the 21 artists participating in the exhibition “Imaginarios Contemporáneos Colección FEMSA” [Contemporary Imaginary – FEMSA Collection].
