Openings tomorrow at Casa França-Brasil

This Saturday, March 16th, 5pm, at Casa França-Brasil, two solo exhibitions of PIPA nominees open:

“Contos sem Reis”[Tales without Kings], by Laercio Redondo

The artist invites the audience to stir up the history of the building that houses Casa França-Brasil as an emblem of the city of Rio de Janeiro and the process of construction of a national identity.

Curated by Frederico Coelho

Project Cofre (Vault)

“Cipó, Taioba, Yví”, by Daniel Steegmann

Shadows of plants vital to the indigenous economy (medicinal or ritualistic plants) are projected over a gold plated panel. The artist opposes the “vegetal wealth” of the indigenous and the national economy with the incessant search for gold of the colonizers.
