Tomorrow | New special video: “Museum of Modern Art”

This Saturday, February 22nd, we will present a new special video.
Details and facts about the creation of the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio) are told by Luiz Camillo Osorio, Chief Curator of the museum and by the sociologist Sabrina Parracho, researcher of institutions and artistic movements. The video is a brief story of both sides of the construction of MAM-Rio – both the elaboration of the concept of the museum as the construction of the building itself.

Opening | “Peso à Terra” by Marcone Moreira

(São Paulo, Brazil) Marcone Moreira started his artistic experiments in the late 90s and since then, has participated in several exhibitions at home and abroad. His work covers various mediums, as the production of paintings, sculptures, videos, objects, photographs, and installations.

“Moto” | New works by Raul Mourão

(São Paulo, Brazil) The exhibition presents a broad outlook on the artist’s career. It includes kinetic sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs, videos and an installation in honor of popular artist Selarón, who died in 2013. Mourão dedicates the exhibition to designer André Stolarksi (1970-2013).

Pedro Varela exhibits in Qatar

(Doha, Qatar) The Brazilian artists Carolina Ponte and Pedro Varela are exhibiting their pieces at the show “Dusk to Dawn…Threads of Infinity”. The show is part of the celebrations of the Qatar-Brazil 2014 Year of Culture. They have been chosen by the Doha gallery due to the fact that their art represents Brazilian culture.

Group exhibition tells the history of health in Brazil

(Brasília, DF) “À sua saúde” shows works by Milton Marques and Rodrigo Braga, among other Brazilian artists. Paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, performances and medicine adverts are part of the exhibition. It shows, in a recreational and interactive way, the history of health in Brazil, a country currently in sixth place in a world ranking of medication consumption.

Last week to visit “Arroz sem sal”

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) The show gathers works by the artists Cildo Meireles, Ivens Machado, Alexandre da Cunha, Laercio Redondo, Manuela Ribadeneira, Mayana Redin, Pia Camil and Samara Scott. Works in different techniques and materials will be presented.

“The Agreement” by Matheus Rocha Pitta

(London, UK) The Brazilian artist presents his solo “The Agreement”. For this exhibition Rocha Pitta works with the curious technique of pouring concrete onto findings, a hybrid of cast and collage. It is based on a common, cheap way to cover graves: if one can’t afford marble or travertine, one uses a concrete slab instead.
