The Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro is preparing, from the second week in March, a special programme with various events and exhibitions. Meanwhile, these are the last days to visit the following exhibitions on view at the Museum:
“Acervo MAM – obras restauradas” [“MAM Collection – restored works”]
The exhibition brings together 13 works from its collection prior to 1978, by domestic and international artists, recently restored with the support of Pró-Artes Visuais 2012.

“4×3 A arte do cartaz de cinema” [ “4×3 The art of movie posters”]
Selection of Brazilian movie posters produced between 1950 and 1980 and signed by the graphic artists Jayme Cortez, Ziraldo and Benicio. The works are organised according the social type portrayed – the worker, the bohemian, the “sexy girl” and icon – the exhibition investigates a time of transition and assertion of the country and this art among us, emphasizing the transition / coexistence of an urban- industrial society to a consumer society.

Curated by Luiz Camillo Osorio, PIPA Board member. “Genealogias do Contemporâneo – Collections Gilberto Chateaubriand and MAM” gathers works by important Brazilian artists and focuses on works produced from 1920 to 1970.

The show is part of the celebrations of the Museum of Modern Art’s 65 years. Catalogues, invitations, folders and photographs of key moments of its history are presented, making a time line with over a hundred different documents.
