SP Arte 2014 | “Mariana Palma” book launch

(São Paulo, Brazil)

The book “Mariana Palma“, will be launched this Saturday at 6pm, a register of the artist’s career from 2006 to 2013, with texts by Angélica de Moraes, Camila Belchior and Juliana Monachesi (G. Ermakoff publishing). This event is part of the SP Arte 2014 schedule.

About the artist:
Mariana Palma was born in 1979 São Paulo, where she currently lives and works, and is graduated by FAAP. Represented by Casa Triângulo, the artist has watercolour, acrylic and oil paint as her mediums. Her works have been displayed on several solo and group shows around Brazil and abroad and she was awarded the Prêmio Aquisição three times. This will be her first book.

About the book, according to introducer Marcio Lobão:
Mariana Palma’s work carries a strong Brazilian appeal which can be seen in the colours, the lighting and in several other elements. Making use of excess, saturation and being inspired by the colours in gothic and flemish paintings, Marian is an example of rare talent in the art scene, contributing in turning this universe increasingly rich. The artist awards us with works in a organic manner, related to recurring themes. Mariana’s intention is to expose the creating process, with scenes from her studio, references, photographs of watercolour drafts, etc. That is, she shows us how a subject returns in a different way in various moments and how solutions to these themes change with maturity, a work very well presented in the book.
