Ciga ArtRio | See the galleries participating in the circuit

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

ArtRio presents for the first time the CIGA – Integrated Art Galleries Circuit, from 16th to 18th May, Friday to Sunday, in Rio.

Over 40 galleries scattered in seven neighbourhoods open their doors with special vernissages, exhibitions, visitings to ateliers, performances and talks with artists and curators. Also, the city’s main culture institutions participate in an event on Sunday, 18th May, International Museum Day. See the schedule for some of the galleries below:

Friday 16th:
Artur Fidalgo (Rua Siqueira Campos 143, lojas 147/50 – Copacabana), from 3pm to 6pm
“O Processo Criativo”, with Rosana Palazyan, Fernando de la Rocque and Fábio Carvalho
Group show

The gallery promotes a meeting with the artists artistas Rosana Palazyan, Fernando de la Rocque and Fábio Carvalho, presenting to the visitors a panorama of their trajectories in contemporary art.

Galeria Tempo (Av. Atlântica 1782, loja E – Copacabana), from 3pm to 6pm
“Wave”, by Renan Cepeda
Solo show

Along with the exhibition, a selection of photographs on the theme football will be displayed, interpreted by the gallery’s artists. Rogério Reis and Evandro Teixeira will be hosting a casual talk.

Galeria Movimento (Av. Atlântica 4240, loja 212 – Copacabana), from 6pm to 10pm
“Reflexão”, by Tinho (Walter Tada Nomura)
Solo show

Although he has painting as main media, Tinho also photographs, creates three-dimensional objects, installations, collages, performances… He transforms in art whatever he finds through places he walks through. His paitings and graffittis contribuited for acknowledging Brazil as one of the main urban art producers.

Saturday 17th:
Bolsa de Arte (Rua Prudente de Morais, 326 – Ipanema), from 11am to 3pm
“Acervo de Arte Brasileira”

Artworks by Volpi, Ivan Serpa, Rubens Gerchman, Franz Weissmann, among others.

Galeria Laura Marsiaj (Rua Teixeira de Melo, 31c – Ipanema), from 11am to 3pm

Solo shows

Luciana Caravello Arte Contemporânea (Rua Barão de Jaguaripe, 387 – Ipanema), from 11am to 3pm
“Só o Excesso”, by Carolina Ponte
Solo show

Carolina Ponte shows five drawings, in which she uses different inks on paper, like nankin and acrylic. Three pieces in crochet, made with wools and different textures threads are on display.

A Gentil Carioca (Rua Gonçalves Ledo, 17 – Centro), from 11am to 3pm
“Escuta”, by Paulo Nenflídio
Solo show

In his fourth solo at the gallery, the artist displays recently made works, inspired by natural phenomena and marine creatures. Each artwork has its own internal code in micro-controlled circuits where randomness takes part.
