Sofia Borges replies to Beatriz Milhazes’ question: “How do you develop your working process? You try a dialogue or is it only discussion?”
The artist, who works mostly with photography, says her creative process stems from a question rather than a dialogue or discussion: “I really like that ‘problem’ idea. No matter the variable, there is an equation, a sentence, a relationship between elements.”

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) André Komatsu, Armando Queiroz, Caetano Dias, Caio Reisewitz, Grupo Empreza, laercio Redondo, Marcelo Cidade, Matheus Rocha Pitta, Paulo Nazareth, Virginia de Medeiros and Waléria Américo are some of the names featured in “From Valongo to Favela: imaginary and periphery”. The show focuses on the favelas and the port region of Rio, which has a long history and as such are a fundamental part of the memory modes and life of Brazil.
(São Paulo, Brazil) The artist was born in the northern state of Amazonas in 1976, moved to Pernambuco at age two and lives in Rio since 2011. The movement between these three states and the experience with different ecosystems and cultures resulted in the material of “Agricultura da Imagem” [“Agriculture of Image”] new exhibition with 30 photographs, three videos and objects found in his field investigations.
