See the schedule for the street art event ArtRua 2014

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

On its third edition, the ArtRua brings news this year: for the first time the event occupies the Centro Cultural Ação da Cidadania, an unique space for its large dimensions and architectural features. The first floor is destined to exhibitions and shows. The second one is where the galleries, installations, lounge and food court are located.

The fair area has about 20 national and international galleries, among them Itinerrance, one of France’s most renowned galleries; Choque Cultural and A7MA, from São Paulo; Nuvem, from Pernambuco and the main Northeast Brazil gallery; Quarto Amado, from Belo Horizonte; as well as Rio’s Huma, Movimento and Galeria 95. The space also has stands with installations and solo shows by artists such as Antonio Bokel and Acidum Project.

The exhibition comprises seven massive walls (the largest ones ever made by ArtRua), signed by Brazilian and foreign artists: The London Police (Netherlands), Seth Globepaint (France), Ana Marieta (Porto Rico), Ramon (Belo Horizonte), Toz (Rio de Janeiro), Bicicleta sem freio (Goiânia) and Branco (São Paulo). The walls are curated by Instagrafite, the largest collaborative urban art network that just reached 1 million followers on Instagram.

As in previous editions, ArtRua also promotes a series of actions and interventions spread out on the surroundings of the event area. As well as the walls next to the venue, for the first time the event presents paintings of the sides of buildings, created by the international artists El Seed (France/Tunisia) and Inti (Chile) and the Brazilians Acidum Project (Fortaleza) and Gais AMA (Rio de Janeiro).

A music programme is also part of the event during the weekend. On Friday, Moo’s Discoland is up. Saturday the headline is rapper Black Alien, celebrating the ten year anniversary of his first album, “Babylon by Gus-Vol.1 – O ano do macaco”, a legend in the Brazilian rap scene. After the show, the night goes on in the black music mood with guest DJs.
