(Vila Velha, Brazil)
With works by nine different artists, the Museu Vale holds until the 2nd November the exhibition “Of Journeys, Of Desires, Of Paths”. It presents a compilation of works by artists form North and Northeast Brazil: Leonilson, Yuri Firmeza, Virginia de Medeiros, Marcone Moreira, Jonathas de Andrade, Armando Queiroz, Rodrigo Braga and Karim Ainouz + Marcelo Gomes.
“The show is an invitation into different tracks, in distinct possibilities of territorializing and deterritorializing, of building new escape routes through the desire that leads to another place. The paths and displacements that merge with solitude, affection and absence”, explains the curator Bitu Cassundé.
Between objects, installations, photographs, paintings and videos, the exhibition questions territories and the emotional, identity and belonging relationships they imply, as well as the “geographic imaginary” that is made legitimate through social compositions and structures and strategies of coexistence.
“‘Of Journeys, Of Desires, Of Paths’ is strikingly shaped in the questions involving body and territory. With a diversity of languages in the same space, the exhibition provides a plural vision of contemporary art developed in North and Northeastern Brazil”, concludes Ronaldo Barbosa, Museu Vale director.
