This weekend | ArtBO, the Bogota International Art Fair

(Bogota, Colombia)

From the 24th to 27th October, Colombia holds the Bogota International Art Fair, namely ArtBO. Each year the fair invites national and foreign galleries to create a high quality exhibition in which both expert and general public can enjoy works of art. Apart from the commercial aspect of the fair, it also offers a wide cultural, academic programme that aims to make art more accessible to broader audiences.

For four days the fair, proposing itself as a platform for commercial relationship and cultural exchange, gathers curators, artists, collectors, enthusiasts and members of the general public. The exhibition space is divided into five main sections:

Main: Each year, galleries from a variety of countries participate at the fair. These galleries are selected by the Selection Committee considering their trajectory and the quality of their proposal for the fair. Among the participants are São Paulo galleries Baró, Luisa Strina, Milan, Luciana Brito and Vermelho.

Projects: Projects by recognized contemporary artists, represented commercially by a gallery, selected and invited by a curator. This year integrating the commissioned artists list are Daniel Acosta (Casa Triângulo) and Hector Zamora (Luciana Brito). In total there are 14 projects by artists and designers, under the theme “The aesthetic use of the object”.

Foro: A space for learning and discussing topics related to contemporary art.

Artecámara: This sector showcases the work of young Colombian artists, selected by a curator through a national and public call for applications. The goal of this sector is to promote, professionalize and internationalize the work of promising young artists.

ArticulArte: A space created to sensitize and bring children, teenagers, young adults and the general public closer to art through didactic and recreational activities.
