Opening | Solo exhibition with brand new works by Cristiano Lenhardt

(Recife, Brazil)

Artist Cristiano Lenhardt has works once again exhibited at “Galeria Amparo 60”, starting tonight. He presents to the public the solo show “Matéria Superordinária Abundante” [“Abundant Superordinary Matter”], comprising brand new works. There is a mixture of techniques: drawing, painting, photography, video, installation and collage, using a variety of materials such as pierced adhesive, tin screens, plastic, cardboard and wood.

In the pieces, none of the fittings are fixed. “Because everything only exists as long as the force sustaining them is bigger than the force pulling backwards”, says the artist. Thus the materials and shapes linked in the exhibition, presenting arrangements that are established through positive settings, developed from an attention that is suspicious of the final sentence.

Cristiano explains that he always observed the kind of social organisation that Brazilian indians have, as well as their culture, deepening his studies for a couple of years. He parts with the same idea some authors have that indian life could change the way society is in Brazil. “I speak from a perspective in which I believe this land is indian and should be respected as such, only it is not like that nor it ever was”, the artist points out.
