Rodrigo Matheus creates artwork for Gentle Wall Project

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

The gallery A Gentil Carioca opens today a new artwork to occupy the Projeto Parede Gentil [“Gentle Wall project”], this time conceived by artist Rodrigo Matheus.

About the project:
For this project an artist and a Gentil supporter-collector are invited to create a special work which is realized on the external wall of our gallery, where it remains exhibited for four months. With the supportive action of the collector, we emphasize the importance of “colectionism” – transforming the collection of works of art into something public. In this way we take the art to the street, making it accessible and educational for the general public.

About Rodrigo Matheus:
His works articulate many medias in artworks that discuss the nature of representation and its relation with the industrial design. Making use of objects and common materials to the corporate world, the artist also appropriates of their strategies to create fake-companies that sign their project-work. Other works explore representations of nature from the perspective of sham and artificiality.
