Annually, members of the Nominating Committee are invited by PIPA’s Board to nominate, each one, up to three artists to run for the Prize.
The Committee is composed by twenty to forty renowned professionals, Brazilian or foreigner, who work directly with contemporary art, such as artists, collectors, curators, professors, critics and gallerists, who can’t nominate artists commercially represented by their galleries.
Members of the Nominating Committee have to consider the relevancy of the prize as a parameter when selecting their nominations and choose artists who have a recent trajectory, highlighted in the Art Circuit. PIPA’s coordination avoids any deliberate arbitrary decision for understanding that the results of the Committee’s nominations are more efficient and fair.
