On view | “Mostra 3M de Arte Digital” with works by Cao Guimarães and Felipe Cama

After five successful editions in São Paulo, the Mostra 3M de Arte Digital arrives at Rio de Janeiro for the first time, occupying the first floor of Fundição Progresso. This edition’s theme is “WhatsAppropriation – A arte de revisitar a arte” and is curated by Claudia Giannetti.


Reinterpretation, recreation, remake, appropriation, rereading, re-contextualization, quotes, inspiration and tribute are strategies and languages adopted by contemporary artistas to reflect on artworks or visual representation of other artists.

22 national and foreign artists will dialogue with works by painters from the last five centuries, among them, famous paintings such as “Liberty Leading the People”, by Delacroix; “The Birth of Venus”, by Botticelli; or works by Edward Hopper, Frans Post, Guignard, among others.

The Brazilian invited artists are Vik Muniz, Nelson Leirner, Cao Guimarães, Felipe Cama, Carlos Fadon and Marcelo Coelho. The foreign team is composed by Bill Viola, Martha Rosler, Patricia Reis, Sükran Moral, Ulrike Rosenbach, Cristina Lucas, Ori Gersht, the duo Eva and Franco Mattes, Guillermo Gómez-Peña, the duo Nicola Costantino and Marcos Lopez and Max Zorn. The highlighted filmmakers in this edition are Gustav Deutsch, Lech Majewski and Humberto Mauro.
