Contemporarte Gallery presents, from February 19th until April 4th, “Poema 193”, new works by the Cearense artist Diego de Santos. His works can be found in private collections in Brazil, abroad and in Brazilian Institutions. The exhibition will showcase drawings, photography and videos by the artist and will travel to the main Brazilian cities after its closing period in Fortaleza.
The project “Poema 193” consists in an intensive experimental process, activating the imaginary of the shell, the house, the living archetype, in confrontation with the fire and its symbologies, to poetically discuss issues which surface on the intimacy field of social conflicts.
In his drawings, Diego utilises the soot fixation and different burning processes, in addition to utilising natural weather proofs and paraffin in the formation of the engravings. The works in evidence are valued between R$ 1,5 and 4 thousand.
The project “Poema 193”, which will also be converted into a book, obtained maximum score at the Funarte Contemporary Art Award in 2015. With this award, the exhibition “Poema 193” will gain a national visibility and will be showcased in galleries and Funarte spaces in Brasilia (DF), São Paulo (SP) and Belo Horizonte (MG), and in spaces in partnership with the Foundation in Belém (PA) and Recife (PE). The project will also be turned into a publication.
