Interview with PIPA 2016 Nominated Artists | Meet Carla Chaim

In every edition of the Prize, the participating artists are invited to record exclusive video interviews, an opportunity for artists to voice their ideas, talk about their creative processes and careers. The video interviews are produced by Matrioska Filmes. This week, we released an interview with Carla Chaim, who is a Pipa nominee for the first time.

Carla Chaim

Carla Chaim talks about the influence of the lessons in the course of Art History in her work. She tells us that to record the video performances she began to pay more attention to gestures, actions, articulations and body movements. “I started to record videos, make video performances and make drawings where body were present. The body would turn into an instrument. It is a body that roams, or walks aimlessly. It is a useless action. It is a body that follows the limits of where it is going”, explains Chaim.
