Interview with Pipa 2016 Nominated Artists | Meet Ayrson Heráclito and Luiza Baldan

In every edition of the Prize, the participating artists are invited to record exclusive video interviews, an opportunity for artists to voice their ideas, talk about their creative processes and careers. The video interviews are produced by Matrioska Filmes. This week, we released interviews with Ayrson Heráclito and Luiza Baldan.

Ayrson Heráclito

Ayrson Heráclito talks about what he understands as art and his work, which in recent times have had an artistic and at the same time religious bias. The artist has participated in an exhibition in Germany where he cleaned people with popcorn, simulating a religious ritual in Bahia. Before becoming a performance in Berlin, “Bururu” already existed in video format.

Luiza Baldan

Luiza Baldan talks about the displacement issue, for her it means a clash between what you imagine and what actually happens when you live this experience. The artists also talks about the importance of the text (different information, things she read or listen to or even a conversation) in her work. Baldan, in partnership with Jonas Arrabal, prepares a project with pictures and text about the Guanabara Bay.
