Talks at MAM-Rio | ‘PIPA Invites’ event discusses new challenges in curatorship

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Since its first edition, PIPA Prize has a space at the finalists’ exhibition destined to public interaction: the Living Area. The area has been coordinated by Jean D. Soares and Virgínia Mota since the Prize’s 2014 edition, and it is the place where they prepare art mediators to guide the visitors through the exhibition and organize several workshops and activities.

One of these activities is PIPA Invites, which welcomes the public and a number of art educators and researchers to open talks centered in specific themes.

In this first talk, which will take place on October 19th at 3pm, the art educators invite Clarissa Diniz, Luiz Camillo Osorio and Felipe Ribeiro for the talk “New Challenges in Curatorship”. There, they shall discuss their thoughts on the tasks of curatorship nowadays, the challenges of the relationship between curators, artists and works of art, and expectations on the future of art exhibitions. The discussion will be held at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM-Rio), in the Living Area located in the PIPA Prize Finalist’s Exhibition.

Guest speakers:

  • Clarissa Diniz works as a Curator and Art Critic. Editor-in-chief of Revista Tatuí, she is currently Chief Curator at Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR).
