(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
Since its first edition, PIPA Prize has a space at the finalists’ exhibition destined to public interaction: the Living Area. The area has been coordinated by Jean D. Soares and Virgínia Mota since the Prize’s 2014 edition, and it is the place where they prepare art mediators to guide the visitors through the exhibition and organize several workshops and activities.
One of these activities is PIPA Invites, which welcomes the public and a number of art educators and researchers to open talks centered in specific themes.
On November 6th, at 11am, the art educators invite Fernando Galrito for the workshop “Animation Garden”. There, they will examine animation as “the art that creates illusional movements through still images”. The workshop will be held at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM-Rio), in the Living Area located in the PIPA Prize Finalist’s Exhibition.
Fernando Galrito is an Animation and Artistic Project Professor at EASD, Portugal. He is also the curator of various cinema and video festivals. Galrito has promoted open classes and workshops at universities in Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Russia, Hungary, Ukraine, Austria, Canada, Croatia, Slovenia and Brazil. He also directs animation documentaries and interdisciplinary works in drama, dance and performance companies. Galrito is also the artistic director of MONSTRA, an animation film festival from Lisbon which is currently on show at Caixa Cultural do Rio de Janeiro from November 1st to 13th.
