“Afetosyntesis”, Maria Nepomuceno’s first exhibition in Norway

(Stavanger, Norway)

Using coloured rope and beads, PIPA Prize 2012 nominee Maria Nepomuceno creates organic sculptures that spread outwards and fill the room. Her large, often spiral-shaped works are inspired by old Brazilian craft traditions. For each exhibition, she creates sculptures adapted to the place where they are shown.

Her sculptures will be presented for the first time in Norway starting next Friday, March 17th, at Stavanger Kunstmuseum. Titled “Afetosyntesis”, the solo show goes on until May 28th and was made possible thanks to a donation by the Jan Groth and Steingrim Laursen Collection. The exhibition traves to Kunsthuset Kabuso, in Øystese, afterwards.
