Films by six Brazilian artists are screened in London this weekend

(London, UK)

Narrative Projects has prepared a special programme for the weekend. In partnership with Sala Antonio, Galeria Vermelho’s dedicated space for screening movies, the London-based contemporary art gallery will be showcasing 11 art videos from Friday, July 13th, through Sunday, the 15th. The programme features videos by Dora Longo Bahia, Lia Chaia, Clara Ianni, Gisela Motta & Leandro Lima, Guilherme Peters and Dias & Riedweg.

Although most of the videos selected by curator Fabiano Doyle are short-length, ranging from two to 17 minutes approximately, three longer works stand out in the programme: Guilherme Peter’s “Tentativa de aspirar ao grande labirinto”, Dias & Riedweg’s “Arquivo Romance”, and Gisela Motta & Leandro Lima’s experimental film “Xapiri”. The first two part from other artists’ works (respectively, Brazilian visual artist Helio Oiticica and American photographer Charles Hovland) in their reflections. The latter, recorded in 2011/2012, reproduces a simulation of the visual and conceptual universe of shamanism as proposed by the Yanomami indigenous tribe. See the full programme here.
