This February, the media and events company, Frieze, will launch a new annual contemporary art fair in Los Angeles, presented at Paramount Pictures Studios. From February 15-17th, Los Angeles´mark as an art capital will be reflected as international collectors, curators and artists come together to appreciate the city.
The world´s leading galleries will join Los Angeles´ defining art spaces to celebrate the dynamic culture of Los Angeles and its global contributions to the visual arts. Paulo Nimmer Pjota, André Komatsu (2011 PIPA finalist), Cinthia Marcelle (2010 PIPA finalist), Marcelo Cidade, Ivan Grilo and Chiara Banfi are the PIPA nominated artists and finalists that will take part in the fair.
Frieze has appointed Bettina Korek as the fair´s executive director, who will work with Victoria Siddall. Ali Subotnick will curate and oversee a site-specific program of artist projects and film at the fair. Formerly Curator at the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles), where she is currently Adjunct Curator, Subotnick also co-curated the inaugural edition of the Hammer’s biennial exhibition Made in LA (2012).
