PROMOTING THE ARTISTS
All nominated artists have a page in PIPA Prize websites (see the Portuguese version: www.premiopipa.com). The participants are invited to send material (photos, videos and texts) for making their pages. Those who have already participated in the previous editions can continually contribute with new content for their pages, keeping them updated. Besides the pages in the English and Portuguese sites, all the participants will have the opportunity to record a video interview. The purpose of these interviews is to get to know the artists, their careers and process. This initiative, developed throughout the nine years of PIPA Prize, is forming an ever-growing and diverse database and research tool on contemporary Brazilian art.
The participating artists will also have bilingual pages in PIPA’s Catalogues, distributed for free to Brazilian and foreign professionals. The catalogues can also be downloaded on our website.
WHAT ARE THE ARTISTS RUNNING FOR?
The PIPA Prize 2019 honours artists in two categories:
PIPA = Main category of the Prize, in which only the four finalists chosen by the Council participate. Each of the four receives R$ 30,000 to present the exhibition. The winner, defined by the Award Jury, receives more R$ 30,000 to develop a project or work to be presented to the PIPA Institute and the Jury. This project could be a publication, a commissioned work, a research trip, an artistic residence, a website or an exhibition.
PIPA Online = Category in which all the indicated artists in the current edition participate. The vote takes place on the Prize website and the winner, the artist who receives the most votes at the end of the second round, receives an extra donation of R$ 15,000.
