The participating artists were nominated by the Nominating Committee, made up of contemporary art professionals from all over Brazil and abroad. Each member of the Committee may nominate up to three names.
Out of the 76 nominated participants for the PIPA Prize 2019, 66 will participate in this edition, 29 of them are first-time nominees. The 2019 PIPA artists come from all over Brazil, some of them live out of the country, but the majority lives and works in the southeast region and in between 31 and 40 years old.
