Marcellvs L. is the only Brazilian artist at “Infinitude”, an exhibition part of BIENALSUR 2019

The second edition of BIENALSUR 2019, the cultural event of contemporary art of Argentina for the world happens until August 25 in the CCK with the exhibition “Infinitude”, a selection of videos on landscape of the collection Es Baluard Modern Art Museum and Contemporary of Palma, made by Nekane Aramburu (its director until March 17, 2019).

Works by artists Robert Cahen (FRA), Lida Abdul (AFG / USA), Irene de Andrés (ESP), Bouchra Khalili (MAR / DEU), Marcellvs L. (BRA / DEU), Michael Najjar (DEU), Francisco Ruiz of Infante (ESP), Bernardí Roig (ESP), Amparo Sard (ESP), Javier Vallhonrat (ESP), Marcelo Viquez (URY / ESP) and Wolf Vostell (DEU) make up the exhibition.

“The vastness imposes itself as the dominant dimension before the landscape, with the assurance that there is always something else there, in the outside of the picture, on the other side, that which we know exists even though we are not seeing it: the unlimited,” he explains. Diana B. Wechsler, academic artistic director of BIENALSUR, and curator of the show with Nekane Aramburu (ESP).

The problem of space – continuous, infinite, inescapable – is imposed on artists from different latitudes by taking it to underline it, reinvent it conceptually or intervene, seeking effects and aesthetic and political readings of the most diverse. What can not be neutralized: it condenses from the utopian dimensions to the political claims, from the records of the visual experience to the conceptual elaborations.

BIENALSUR 2019, collective with Marcellvs L.
