STUDIOLO XXI proposes an approach to drawing and the paths that it travels today, in its affinities with other forms of artistic expression that include sculpture, video, installation and performance. Works by 180 national and foreign artists are shown, among some of the most important of the contemporary living scene and others who in the past have opened those paths, seeking Drawing as a primordial artistic subject – Mariana Palma, Júlio Pomar, Ana Hatherly, Álvaro Lapa, António Palolo,….
Some artists, including Albuquerque Mendes, Cristina Ataíde, Sofia Pidell and Sebastião Resende, will produce works expressly for the exhibition, in a site specific logic. Initially, studiolo was the place where the artist accumulated his works and that, being also its space of affection and intimacy also welcomed objects from other disciplines.
