“leçons de la pierre”, Ícaro Lira’s new solo show

(Paris, France)

Ícaro Lira presents his new solo show at the Salle Principale gallery, which is holding the work of the Brazilian artist for the first time. The exhibition “leçons de la pierre” (lessons of the stone) is open for visitors from November 21, 2019, to February 01, 2020, and is part of the Festival Visions d’exil, that happens from the 1st to the 30th of November, in Paris and in Pantin, organized by the “Atelier des artistes en exil” association.

The artist’s work has been, for several years,”focused on analyzing the evolution and implications of Brazilian political and historical actions on intimate trajectories”, as explained in the curatorial text by Elena Lespes Muñoz and translated by Marta Lança. She also comments that, for “leçons de la pierre”, Ícaro brings together his long-term research with more recent reflections that were conceived during his residency at the Delfina Foundation this summer, in London, and at the Cité internationale des Arts, in Paris, where he currently lives.
