The Lumen Travo Gallery receives the first solo presentation of the Brazilian artist and researcher Daniel de Paula in the Netherlands. The show “and materiality becomes nothing but a mere representation of a structure of dominance” opened on the 18th of January and will be running until the 22nd of February.
A series of objects and works that give continuation to the artists ongoing investigations towards infrastructure and the production of geographical space understood as the reproduction of violent practices that are fundamental to capitalist production are displayed in the exhibition. As explained in the show’s release, “through a variety of sculptural and conceptual strategies the artist proposes, not only a critical reflection of the physical structures that surround us, but also of the agency and invisible phenomena they conceal”. Daniel de Paula currently lives and works between Amsterdam and São Paulo.
