The third episode of “Artifício – o podcast do PIPA” is available now! It is called “O MoMA e os novos caminhos de curadoria para os museus de arte moderna”.
What does the change of narrative in a modern art institution represents?
The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), a reference in modern art and one of the most visited museums in the world, had huge changes in it’s curation project in 2019. In total, US$ 450 million were invested on these transformations, which resulted in the expansion of common areas and in a new disposition of the artistic works.
Based on the critical text “MoMA gets a wake-up call”, by Luiz Camillo Osorio, we discussed with him, on this new episode, these differences in the curation of the North American museum and the reasons that make, today, the institutions rethink the way they tell the history of Modern Art.
