Daniel de Paula presents Repose together with artists Marissa Lee Benedict and David Rueter. The exhibition is being held at The Arts Club of Chicago until September, 2020.
As explained in the exhibition’s release,
“In 2018, the trio salvaged the last remaining trading pit from the trading floor of the Chicago Board of Trade, after electronic trading rendered these octagonal pits obsolete. The artists now rearrange fragments of the wooden crates used to store the rescued trading pit around a missing object: the pit itself. This gesture connects negation in modernist sculpture with dematerialization in global logistics and commodification at the same time it frames an absent object that transforms itself as viewers walk around it”.
