Visit “Transcendental Tourist”, Rosângela Rennó’s online exhibition

Vermelho presents Transcendental Tourist, a series of 10 videos that Rosângela Rennó has been developing since 2006. The videos were recorded in various parts of the world, from the Ganges in Rishikesh and Allahabad, India, to the Uyuni Salt Flat, in southwest Bolivia.

According to Rennó,

“The transcendental tourist is one who, when traveling to one place, brings with him the memory of another place. The Transcendental Tourist, when documenting an exotic landscape, allegorically aggregates data pertinent to other peoples and places, as if he were constructing delicate, multidirectional bridges, allowing for new crossings and amalgamating all this to his own notion of landscape”.

Each video is accompanied by a text written by Rennó. The texts can be interpreted as a hybrid travel and image building journal.

You can visit the online exhibition here.
