(Paris, FR)
The first edition of Paris+ par Art Basel brings together 156 premier galleries from 30 countries and territories – including 61 exhibitors with spaces in France – in a new flagship event that further augments Paris’s standing as a cultural epicenter. The fair, which takes place at the Grand Palais Éphémère from Thursday, October 20 to Sunday, October 23, will extend beyond the Palais through a program of collaborations with Paris’ cultural institutions and its city-wide sector Sites, including publicly accessible works in emblematic settings.
For Paris+ par Art Basel, A Gentil Carioca presents (stand F10) a solo show by Maxwell Alexandre. The works are part of the series New Power, an offshoot of Pardo é Papel, made to explore the idea of the black community within the established temples for art contemplation: galleries and museums. Understanding contemporary art as an elite field that concentrates great financial and intellectual capital, the series seeks to draw attention of the black community to these spaces that legitimize narratives in history. The series works with only three basic signs, the black (characters), the white (“white cube” or exhibition space) and the brown (art).
Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel (Booth D23) presents the artists Anderson Borba, Erika Verzutti, Léon Ferrari, Marina Rheingantz, Mauro Restiffe, Rodrigo Cass, Valeska Soares and Yuli Yamagata.
Mendes Wood DM (Booth A18) presents the artists Lucas Arruda, Maria Auxiliadora, Neïl Beloufa, Paloma Bosquê, Heidi Bucher, Varda Caivano, Guglielmo Castelli, Adriano Costa, Michael Dean, Sonia Gomes, Amadeo Luciano Lorenzato, Matthew Lutz-Kinoy, Fernando Marques Penteado, Solange Pessoa, Paulo Nimer Pjota, Giangiacomo Rossetti, Maaike Schoorel, Paula Siebra, Marina Perez Simão and Pol Taburet.
