‘Un acto de se ver que se despliega’ thinks the gestures with Brazilian and Eastern European artists

Un acto de se ver que se despliega is a group show featuring Vânia Mignone, Jonathas de Andrade and many others. The exhibition proposes an approach to the Susana and Ricardo Steinbruch Collection, a collection of different temporalities and geographies focused, above all, on Latin American contemporaneity -especially Brazilian- and on the artistic practices that took place in Eastern Europe during the second half of the 20th century.

The pieces selected for the exhibition are articulated around the theory of gestures, coined by the Czech-Brazilian thinker Vilém Flusser. For him, these rituals of perception – which may seem minimal and not respond to a determined causality – not only make our own aesthetic and affective recognition possible but are also at the base of a cartography of relationships and intersections that apparently unites artists disparate

Thus, in a dialogical manner and far from a linear vision, a journey is proposed that begins with a specific project by Fernanda Gomes and that goes from the anti-art movements of the former Yugoslavia, to neo-concretism or the artistic responses that arose in the contexts above the political events of the 1960s and 1970s. In the same way, a section is also dedicated to Mira Schendel and other types of unions are explored, such as those that go through the idea of territory or are installed in experimentation with and from language.

The participating artists are Jonathas de Andrade , Leonor Antunes , Artur Barrio, Geraldo de Barros, Hércules Barsotti , Maria Bartuszová,Marcel Broodthaers , Waltercio Caldas , Sérgio Camargo , Lygia Clark , Waldemar Cordeiro , Antonio Dias, Juan Downey , Anna Bella Geiger , Fernanda Gomes, Tomislav Gotovac, Ion Grigorescu, Víctor Grippo, Hudinilson Jr. , Sanja Iveković , Julije Knifer, Edward Krasinski, Jac Leirner , José Leonilson, Lea Lublin, Anna Maria Maiolino , Mangelos (Dimitrije Bašičević) , Antonio Manuel, Dóra Maurer , Cildo Meireles , Vânia Mignone, Hélio Oiticica , Lygia Pape ,Luiz Sacilotto , Mira Schendel , Regina Silveira , Mladen Stilinović , Tunga (Antônio José de Barros de Carvalho).
