The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) presents from March 9th the exhibition of the recipients of the 2020 CIFO Grants & Commissions Program Award. The Program recognized nine Latin American artists representing four different countries, across three categories: The Achievement Award recipient—Martha Araújo (Brazil); Mid-Career Artists —Tania Candiani (Mexico), Simone Michelin (Brazil) and Adán Vallecillo (Honduras); and Emerging artists— Paloma Contreras Lomas (Mexico), Rolando López (Mexico), Lucas Lugarinho (Mexico), Maria Noujaim (Brazil) and Milton Raggi Vinueza (Cuba).
The Grants & Commissions Program, CIFO’s signature initiative now in its 18th itineration, has presented its accompanying exhibition at international partnering institutions since 2018. In 2018 the exhibit took place at the Centro Cultural Metropolitano (MetQUITO) in Quito, Ecuador; in 2019 the awardees presented their work at El Museo del Barrio in New York City. This year, it will be held at MARCO, in Monterrey, Mexico.
The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 by Ella Fontanals-Cisneros and her family to foster cultural exchange and enrichment of the arts. Over the years, CIFO has earned the respect of the international art world; and is recognized for its rich history in promoting Latin American contemporary art. This year, it will be held at MARCO, in Monterrey, Mexico.
The foundation’s mission is to support and advance cultural understanding and educational dialogue among Latin American artists and global audiences. CIFO is a platform for emerging, mid-career and established Latin American artists through the Grants & Commissions Program, Traveling Exhibitions Program, The CIFO Collection, and other related art and cultural projects in the U.S. and internationally. Since 2002, CIFO has granted more than $2 Million to over 150 artists from Latin America and has exhibited their work.
