PIPA Prize 2020 and 2022 nominee.

Ana Sario seeks to translate, through her paintings, states of mind or sensations that images or situations of contemplation cause in us: the many shades of blue that meet and change slowly in the sunset sky, the view of a garden interrupted by the shade of a pink curtain, a vast flowered field that reaches to the infinite on our field of vision, or even the intense light of the morning that crosses, through the cracks, a hibiscus bush. The symbology of the reproduced image also becomes a subject, like the format of photographic frame that integrates some of her paintings, whose function goes beyond that of structuring the composition. Sometimes empty, these frames do not transport us to other images, bringing us to the present moment of painting and instigating us to reflect on the possibilities of representation. Ana Sario explores language beyond the fields of color and of the masses of paint. The artist names some of her works and provokes a play of meanings between word and image.
