Andrew Silva is a visual artist and researcher. Graduated in Design, he began to develop his work in painting in a self-taught way. Born and raised in Conjuntão, a housing complex located in Bangu, west zone of Rio. He found in the density of this architectural geometry a symbolic substrate for the articulation of his painting. His work materializes by tensing the support through the use of images of different origins and granting them an installation and sculptural aspect.
Graduated in Fashion Design from Unesa in 2017. In 2015 and 2016, he participated in Casa geração vidigal, a fashion school for young people from Rio de Janeiro’s peripheries. In 2018, he was selected for the Orbit residency at Centro-Br (Brazilian Center for Studies in Clothing Design). In 2020, he joined Atelier Livre Xico Stockinger in Porto Alegre. In 2021, he was part of the Costa Doce Contemporary Art Show, Rio Grande do Sul. In 2022, he held his first solo exhibition “Ramal Apoteose” at Athena Gallery in Rio de Janeiro and participated in several group exhibitions, “Fissura” at Portas Vilaseca, “Assembleia” at Refresco Gallery and “Id” at Z42, all of which are galleries in Rio de Janeiro.
